The internet is kind of a confusing place sometimes. \u00a0Really, it depends on where you hang out, though, unlike in real life, you don\u2019t have a map that tells you how to get to the over-your-head-zen-musicians and away from horrible back alley drugs sold by the Russian Mafia. \u00a0Still, assuming you aren\u2019t hanging out only in the seedy underbelly, filled with terrible porn, you can come across some very interesting and thought provoking stuff.<\/p>\n
No, I\u2019m not talking about NASA\u2019s latest thing on Mars. \u00a0Well, alright, that is interesting, but I maintain that NASA should be sending colonists there by now, so I\u2019m a little underwhelmed. \u00a0No, what I\u2019m talking about is people! \u00a0Every now and again it just hits me that the internet, the whole damned thing, is chalked full of people, doing their thing and being people. \u00a0Sometimes, this sucks. \u00a0Some people suck, you can\u2019t get around it. \u00a0Some people are crazy, and they at least have that going for them. \u00a0Other people though, are awesome.<\/p>\n
Awesome people are all over the place and they are doing awesome things. \u00a0Things that don\u2019t get on MSN.com; things that don\u2019t make Fox news. \u00a0There are people who do the craziest most wonderful stuff for no other reason than it makes them and other people happy. \u00a0There\u2019s a lot more on YouTube than idiots blowing up soda bottles and kitten videos. \u00a0Last week, Anita Sarkeesian, of\u00a0Feminist Frequency<\/a>, put out a video that shifted my perspective toward women\u2019s roles in video games in a huge way. \u00a0You can watch it\u00a0here<\/a>. \u00a0This was the first part in her series Women vs. Tropes in video games and I am very glad it happened. \u00a0I\u2019m going to talk more about that in a later post, but its going to (hopefully) be more involved and also related to my own story telling and lesson\u2019s that I\u2019m learning in that field.<\/p>\n
